  17. <p>     When reporters questioned Ted Kennedy last Tuesday about
  18. the alleged rape on the family estate in Florida, he said he
  19. was too busy to answer because of his tight legislative
  20. schedule. But the Massachusetts Democrat failed to show up for
  21. an important hearing before the Judiciary Committee, on which
  22. he serves. The subject: violence against women. Committee
  23. members cited the fact that a woman is raped every six minutes
  24. in the U.S.
